Pozole Recipe

Description: Pozole is a traditional Mexican dish that existed even before Spanish colonization and had a ritual significance to the Aztecs. Maize was a sacred plant to the Aztecs since they believed the gods made the humans out of cornmeal dough. Because of the heavy use of maize, usually whole hominy kernels, pozole was consumed on special occasions. Once the Spanish arrived, pozole evolved into the one we know today.
